New House

Mike just moved into our new house. We packed the truck all day Friday, then headed out that evening about 6 pm, dropped the Uhaul off at the new house and then went to Joy's house and passed out from exhaustion. Saturday was a early start. Alice, Steve, Joy, Mike, and I all headed up to the new house to unload that 26 foot Uhaul truck. Alice and Joy cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, while I steam cleaned all the carpets. Meantime, Mike and Steve has the job of unloading that truck. Alice and I helped some. Luckily, the truck backed up right to the 2-car garage so it was pretty easy unloading all the bins and the big tv!!! :)

Once the truck was empty we decided it was time for lunch! So, we took the truck back to the Uhaul store and had lunch at a small local diner. Cherry's Sunset. It was very good. The rest of the day was more cleaning and some shuffling of boxes of bins. Joy, Alice, and Steve headed back to Joy's house. Then Mike connected the tv and dvd player as I unpacked all the kitchen boxes. About 10 pm, we decided it was time for bed. No more unpacking today.

Sunday, Mike and Steve changed two light fixtures. It was necessary! The lights were entry way lights. One at the front door and one at the basement door. They hung so low that when you opened the basement door it actually hit the fixture, and the front door only cleared it by maybe 2mm. They also changed the locks. While the girls cleaned, yep still cleaning. After lunch we took down a section of the kitchen cabinets that were suspended in the air. Once those were down, it really opened up the space. About 3:30 we all had some champagne to celebrate, then Alice, Steve, and Joy headed back to her house. I only stayed long enough to get my stuff together so I could head back to my other home :( School starts Monday, needed to get some rest.
